LE SALVET

+33 (0) 467970847

This is the Jean Louis’s story, who bought this big expanse in 1996, after he has worked with flowers and plants since 1989. Caroline settled in with him in 2002, they have a daughter born in 2004 and other baby who will be born at the end of 2006. The country estate is situated in the mountains of Languedoc, half an hour by car of the nearest village.

Apart from the permanent family, it works as a temporary community with volunteers (wwoofers or no) who live there for a few days or several months. The main tasks are harvesting flowers and plants (both in the own land and in the mountains of the region) and drying, to make and sell syrup and plants for infusion. They have the intention to dedicate more to ellaborate other products (oil, cream...).

During my stay there was an intensive work rhythm and you could decide about spare time or days off.

There are a house with common rooms, a wooden dry house (see photos) and caravans for lodging. At that moment they were in process to get elctricity and building new houses. They were also beginning to cultivate vegetables for self-consumption, so at the moment they depended much on exterior. This nice people speak French and English. The diet is vegetarian and sometimes omnivorous. Phone.
